How he plays
Small for a centre-back and plays like he has never been told. Fierce in the tackle, then calm enough to pass through the press with his left foot.
In Aussie and Kiwi terms
Think of a front-rower who sets the tone with the first hit-up, or a key defender nobody enjoys lining up on.
Three things to know
- At about 1.75 m, he was the shortest regular centre-back in the Premier League when he joined Manchester United in 2022.
- He was Ajax's Player of the Year for 2021–22, an award chosen by the supporters.
- He grew up in Gualeguay, a small city in Entre Ríos, before moving to Rosario to join Newell's.
Watch for this in his game
A crunching tackle followed straight away by a left-foot pass that takes three opponents out of the game.
